Recreation Sensation
Join Mason Recreation for skills contests, raffles, demonstrations and a whole lot of fun. Recreation has a variety of options and we want you to be aware of the mall. Recreation Sensation will have representatives from Club Sports, Intramural, Aquatics, and Fitness.
If it rains this event will be moved to Wednesday, August 27th on the North Plaza from 1pm-5pm
Do you like finding creative & innovative solutions to problems? Are you interested in organic gardening? Join the Center for Social Entrepreneurship and the GMU Office of Sustainability for a 60-minute problem–solving workshop. Participants will help find innovative and actionable solutions to challenges around recruiting & engagement efforts for the Mason Organic Garden Association. Tuesday, August 26th from 11:00 - noon in 4104 Engineering Building. Space is limited, please register to reserve your seat.

Wellness, Alcohol and Violence Education and Services (WAVES) welcomes YOU to stop by our table during Welcome Week to decorate a cupcake and learn about key elements present in a healthy relationship. Whether a relationship is platonic or romantic, between roommates, friends, fellow classmates, co-workers or family members, there are a few key elements common in all healthy relationships. Our event will provide students useful tools to identify and cultivate healthy relationships while decorating and eating cupcakes! Mark your calendars and come enjoy lots of sugar, a little spice and delicious cupcakes with the WAVES staff while learning about healthy relationships.

Students will have an opportunity to meet faculty and staff involved in Student Success efforts, including the administration and management of Mason’s Beacon survey. Students will have an opportunity to learn and ask questions about the upcoming Beacon survey, reflect on strategies for success at Mason, and start their morning off right with a hearty breakfast.
Prior to getting breakfast, students will be asked to post on a message board (or write a message on a small white board) – Returning students will post tips for success at Mason, and First year students will post an academic or co-curricular goal for their first semester at Mason. Once they have written their message, students will be asked to tweet them, or post on Instagram/Facebook.
For students in a hurry to get to morning classes, to-go items including granola bars and bags of trail mix will be available. Packaging on to-go items will be labeled with Beacon survey dates and links to more detailed information about the Beacon survey. Fast facts from the 2013 survey, information about the 2014 survey, and Student Success Roadmaps will also be distributed at the event.
Student Academic Affairs – Advising, Retention and Transitions; University Life (Assessment, Research, and Retention)
The reception's purpose is to welcome new and returning students to campus and to introduce them to the Women & Gender Studies Program and LGBTQ Resources. The event will help build community for those who are interested in gender and LBGTQ related issues. Faculty and current students will also be available for questions and answers. Pizza will be provided along with some door prizes. ALL are WELCOME!

Join us for a day-long planting event in the Reforest Mason site, next to the Rappahannock Parking Deck. Groups of students will work with volunteers in one-hour shifts over the course of the day to plant native Virginia plants and simultaneously "plant the seeds of well-being at Mason." This event is to introduce students to the Well-Being Initiative to show how Mason promotes well-being and connects students with each other in a way that builds community. All participants will receive free t-shirts! Rain date:August 29th 10am-2pm.

Visual Voices, a new lecture series sponsored by the School of Art, commences this fall and runs through the academic year with a full schedule of eight nationally recognized visiting artists and designers who will speak about their work and the world of art and design. In addition to providing a look inside the studios of these top professionals, the series will offer the opportunity for Mason students to interact with them during daytime seminars and studio visits

The D.C. Volleyball Challenge hosted by the Patriots and American University Aug. 29-30. The first day of play will be held at AU where Mason will open the season against Howard.
